Why would God lead men and women to the Athens and surrounding areas to plant new churches? Based on a 2000 national survey, over half of the population of Athens-Clarke county remains unchurched and/or unaffected by the gospel of Christ. The need is real and there is more than enough work to spread around to all Christian churches and ministries in surrounding areas. If all those in Athens alone who currently see no reason to connect with Jesus Christ or His body would decide to follow Jesus Christ and join a local church, there would not be enough seats available to accomodate them!
